Welcome! We are Chase and Austin, a couple of SoCal friends and the creators of Rubber Ducky Cyber Attack. We love board games and technology and found a way to combine the two. We hope you share our passion for this game as you play with your friends.
The idea for Rubber Ducky Cyber Attack (RDCA) came from when we were teaching a cyber security class to a sales department. The challenge with teaching salespeople cyber security concepts is three-fold: (1) cyber security is a dry subject, (2) cyber security experts typically have dry personalities, and (3) salespeople can be…shall we say, slow learners. So, how do you make something easier to learn? Make it fun: turn it into a game.
The initial concept of the game was to mirror real life cyber threats and security concepts in a custom card game. Each player would launch attacks at each other while simultaneously deploying their own cyber security posture for defense. We did our best to make the game as accurate a model of real life as possible. The problem is cyber security is incredibly complex, and the pursuit for perfection made the game too convoluted. So we pivoted; the new goal was to focus on making the game incredibly fun to play while maintaining a cyber security theme. As far as we are concerned, we have succeeded. The game is fun and after playing with dozens of IT experts, it is accurate within reasonable artistic license. All that is for you to try for yourself!
